Our honest review of Lashbond, the first lash growth serum from Olaplex.

From its viral and BAZAAR-approved No. 3 Hair Perfector to the beloved No. 4 and No. 5 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and Conditioner, best-selling beauty brand Olaplex has been a tour de force for years when it comes to strengthening and rebuilding dry, damaged hair. This week, the company is expanding into an entirely new category with the release of its first-ever growth staple for eyes: the Lashbond Building Serum.

"As a leader in prestige haircare, we’ve introduced new Olaplex innovation with a breakthrough formula for lashes that is clinically proven to deliver noticeable results in as little as two weeks," Olaplex's chief executive officer of JuE Wong tells BAZAAR.com in a statement. "The exclusive Olaplex bond building technology that made us famous supports the skin barrier at the lash line to create an environment for healthier, denser, and longer-looking lashes."

The Lashbond Building Serum introduces the brand's new peptide complex technology, which is a proprietary blend that aims to support lash retention, their natural growth cycle, and the appearance of longer, denser lashes overall. The serum is also powered by hyaluronic acid and biotin for added nourishment and hydration while reducing brittleness. And just like the rest of Olaplex's best-sellers, this serum also includes a bond-building formula that helps support your skin barrier and helps strengthen damaged hair.

Since Lashbond is vetted by professionals and is vegan, silicone-, paraben-, and sulfate-free, it's safe for even the most sensitive eyes, and created for twice daily use along each upper lash line. "We performed independent third-party clinical trials to ensure high levels of performance and safety for this product, including ophthalmologist testing," chief scientist at Olaplex Lavinia Popescu says. "We are pleased to continue Olaplex track record of innovation, using our patented technology to support the lash's natural growth cycle."

To put its growth and strengthening claims to the test, BAZAAR's beauty director Jenna Rosenstein tested Lashbond over the course of two months.

"I got my hands on the serum in January, which was perfect timing because I was in the middle of postpartum hair shedding. My lashes were definitely a little lackluster, but where I really needed help was my brows," Rosenstein says. "I know Lashbond is not designed for brows, but I used it there anyway. I would dip the brush in the tube and run it across my upper lashline, focusing on the outside corner, and whatever was left I would swipe across my brow, then repeat on the other side. I mostly remembered to do this at night, but you should use it twice a day for optimal results."

The growth was apparent around the three-week mark, with even better results as the weeks went on. "I've used lash serums in the past that irritated my eyes, since I wear daily contacts and am sensitive, but Lashbond didn't bother me at all. I was really impressed with the results," she adds. "It's subtle, but definitely noticeable, especially when I wear mascara. The hair at the front of my brow has started to fill-in after being lost to post-baby hormonal changes—I was actually just thinking that I need to get them shaped for the first time in years because of all the new hair growth."

Rosenstein even had her makeup done by a pro for an appearance on the Today Show a month after first testing the new serum, and the makeup artist didn't use any brow products or false lashes, praising her natural fullness. "If you've tried other lash serums and didn't get the results you wanted, Lashbond is definitely worth a spot on your vanity," she says.

Olaplex's Lashbond Building Serum is available for purchase at olaplex.com, sephora.com and ulta.com starting March 31.
