Stiletto Lashes Is The Pretty Mascara Hack The A
By Elle Turner
Award season is back in business and last night's SAG Awards is already #blessing us with yum insider beauty inspo from the A-listers. Our favourite spot? The stiletto lashes that Jenna Ortega wore to take her glam to the next level. Likewise, Zendaya also rocked the trend for her return to the red carpet circuit.
Referencing ‘60s and ’70s beauty, the look sees clusters of lashes pinched together for a spiky, pointed, stiletto effect that adds extra impact and definition to the eyes. But both Jenna and Zendaya gave it their own cool-girl twist with Zendaya focusing the drama on her bottom lashes and Jenna keeping it modern with smaller, longer more delicate stiletto spikes along her top lashes.

Jenna's makeup artist, Vincent Oquendo (@makeupvincent) talked through the inspiration behind the look on his Instagram grid explaining, "For Jenna's SAG awards makeup, we were inspired by classic 70's pastel eyes. We used a white eye shadow stick as a base of her eyes and we created a reverse smokey eye. I then wanted to create different textures using multiple metallic silvers and golds to brighten her eyes. Finally I used a very thin black liquid liner in the outer corner paired with just a few stiletto individual lashes. Paired with a bronzed flushed cheek and a beige rosy lip it was the perfect complement to her vintage @versace gown 🤍." Speaking of the vintage Versace gown, it was shopped straight from the fashion house's 1994 archive.
Jenna paired her stiletto lashes with the deliciously shaggy chopped lob that she introduced with the help of her hair stylist, Dave Stanwell, at the end of last year, alongside fluffed up brows and fresh skin to create a relaxed look that's glam enough for the red carpet but wearable for everyday, too.
Zendaya called on makeup artist, Raoul Alejandre, for her modern-retro glow-up. He created a co-ordinated pink and polished monochrome makeup look, with lined, glossy lips, a natural matte base and beautifully groomed brows. But those stiletto bottom lashes were the star of the look, which makes sense since Zendaya previously told GLAMOUR, "I love long lashes. I like that they open my eyes and make them pop." We'd put our money on Raoul using her favourite Lancôme Lash Idole which she's also the face of.

As for hair, Z's hair stylist, Tai Simon, let slip the exact products she used for the evening, calling on OGX's Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Oil and Coconut Milk anti breakage serum to create a glossy, curled Hollywood bob.

So for an easy makeup update, stiletto lashes are easy, wearable and Zendaya-approved.
